A Phoenix man denies being part of a plot to stop a vote by Congress, which led to the transfer of power from former President Trump to Joe Biden.
A judge has ordered Edward Vallejo held, for now, in connection with the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection last year.
Vallejo made his first court appearance on Friday in Phoenix.
He denied the charges detailed in a 48-page grand jury indictment. It alleges that Vallejo coordinated fast response crews intended to be reinforcements for pro-Trump rioters at the Capitol.
The teams Vallejo is accused of having been involved with were reportedly ready to bring guns into Washington D.C.
Vallejo was arrested the same day as the leader of the far-right Oath Keepers. Both men are accused of seditious conspiracy.
Authorities can hold Vallejo until at least next Thursday, when there’s another court hearing scheduled on whether he’ll be set free pending trial.
