House Jan. 6 Committee subpoenas 2 Arizonans tied to fake election certificate

The U.S. House Jan. 6 Committee wants to question Arizonans in connection with a fake Electoral College certificate falsely claiming that former President Trump won the state in 2020.

The congressional body has subpoenaed two of the 11 people whose signatures appear on the bogus document sent to the National Archives.

Records say phony electors from Arizona met weeks before the deadly U.S. Capitol riot by a pro-Trump mob.

The congressional committee charged with investigating the insurrection wants to ask Nancy Cottle and Loraine Pellegrino about the fake certification from Arizona, and if it’s connected to what happened on Jan. 6.

Letters notifying Cottle and Pellegrino of the subpoenas set February dates for them to turn over records, and show up for depositions.

A top Justice Department official said this week that federal  prosecutors are reviewing fake Electoral College certifications from a handful of states.
