After recently settling a pair of state bar complaints, Attorney General Mark Brnovich said he would seek clarity on professional conduct rules from the Arizona Supreme Court.
A new task force has been formed to review ethics rules for the attorney general, county prosecutors and other public lawyers.
The task force’s job is to tell the Supreme Court if current ethics rules sufficiently consider the unique work and responsibilities of the attorney general and county attorneys.
The group has to describe conflicts faced by government lawyers and how other states have dealt with similar issues.
The task force is led by Justice Bill Montgomery, who used to be Maricopa County attorney.
Thirteen members have a December deadline to file a report and recommend any rule changes.
A Supreme Court spokesman said the review has been talked about for a long time, and it was not prompted by the recently resolved bar complaints against Brnovich.
