Immigration reform group finds trend of Republicans embracing 'racist conspiracy theories' in ads

Arizona’s Republican candidates for governor and U.S. Senate have put much of their focus on immigration and border policies, as those issues continue to poll well among their base voters. And that has been reflected in the ads their teams are producing — nearly six months ahead of the primary.

Senate candidate Jim Lamon, in particular, is drawing significant — and mostly negative — attention for his ads. The organization America’s Voice, which emphasizes the mission of immigration reform, has been looking into how Republican candidates are talking about immigration.

Zachary Mueller is senior political manager for America’s Voice.

The Show spoke with him about what he's learned since analyzing the ads.
