In 2-week effort, Sonoran searching groups unite with those looking for missing migrants

Members of the many groups in Sonora dedicated to searching for missing loved ones have been regularly receiving messages from people in Central America and further beyond looking for help finding loved ones they believe may have gone missing there while trying to get to the United States.

“What unites a great deal is pain, and uncertainty,” said Cecilia Delgado, founder of the Buscadoras por la Paz Sonora, one of the participants of the International Disappeared Persons Searching Brigade, which got started in Nogales, Sonora, on Friday.

The sizable group, which includes a number from other countries, will be working in Sonora and Baja California through early March.
