West Valley to go at least 5 years with no Luke Days air show

A West Valley event grounded by the pandemic in 2020 was set to return next month and feature aerobatics by the Air Force Thunderbirds jet squadron, but Luke Days have once again been canceled.

Blame the pandemic, supply chain problems and inflation for forcing the military to cancel Luke Days again this year.

The West Valley View newspaper reported that in 2016, the air show near Glendale drew roughly 425,000 people.

Luke Days are normally held every other year and last took place in 2018, when attendance was roughly 250,000.

The Brigadier General in command at Luke Air Force Base says the military will try to bring back the air show in 2023.
