How a Phoenix pediatrician is trying to convince parents to vaccinate their young kids

Pfizer BioNTech announced earlier this month it's postponing its application to the FDA to expand the use of its COVID-19 vaccine for kids as young as 6 months old. But kids ages 5 and up have been able to get their shots since last October. Parents of kids in that age group have not come out en masse to get their kids vaccinated.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, as of last week, about 29% of kids ages 5-11 have received a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and that includes some parents who have gotten vaccinated themselves.

Dr. Gary Kirkilas is a pediatrician in Phoenix, and The Show spoke with him about his efforts to convince parents to vaccinate their kids.
