Conservative columnist says Americans are afraid to have real political conversations

The political divisions that had been growing for years in the U.S. became even larger over the past couple of years, with disagreements about COVID-19 and vaccines and masks at the center. That has reduced how often we’re having civil discussions with each other, either because those discussions devolve into hostility or because fewer of us are even starting those conversations in the first place.

That’s part of what journalist and author Andrew Sullivan will be addressing Feb. 25 as part of Arizona State University's School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership’s spring conference, "Renewing America’s Civic Compact."

The Show spoke with Sullivan and began by asking whether civil discussion is disappearing from the public square.
