After a week of searching, international brigade has success in Sonora

An international effort by groups searching for missing loved ones has had some success in Sonora.

The so-called International Disappeared Persons Searching Brigade, made up of Sonoran searching groups plus people from Central America and beyond whose loved ones went missing in Mexico en route to the United States, was in San Luis Rio Colorado on Friday, their last day in Sonora.

“It’s been a success because what we want is to make visible this major problem that we have,” said Cecilia Delgado, founder of participating group the Buscadoras por la Paz Sonora, of the crisis of missing people in Sonora and elsewhere.

But the brigade also made several discoveries of human remains, as well as possibly finding several people alive. After Sonora, the group heads to neighboring Baja California for another week of work.
