The Show regularly checks in with the editorial board of the Arizona Republic to talk about current issues facing the state and the region — featured in columns on the newspaper’s op-ed pages.
Arizona House Bill 2787, sponsored by Republican Rep. Jake Hoffman, would divide Maricopa County into four separate counties.
It’s not the first time a lawmaker has proposed reducing the size of massive Maricopa by splitting it up, but Hoffman’s bill is getting more attention in part because of the so-called audit of the 2020 election in the county.
Bob Robb of the Republic wrote about the bill, to which he’s strongly opposed.
The Show spoke with Republic Editorial Page Editor Phil Boas earlier about the column and the bill’s premise.
