The Legislature has been paying more attention to bills related to the state’s mental health system lately, and a lot of that has been driven by the efforts of attorney Josh Mozell.
Mozell began his professional career as a case manager in the mental health system before moving to the law and learning under the tutelage of legendary attorney Chick Arnold — best known for the groundbreaking Arnold v. Sarn lawsuit.
The Show spoke with Mozell to learn what he’s seeing at the state Capitol as he works to improve Arizona’s mental health system.
The conversation began by asking about a bill he’s especially passionate about — moving oversight of the Arizona State Hospital from the Department of Health Services to AHCCCS, the state’s Medicaid system.
