A low-cost airline plans to open a new crew base at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport this November. A crew base is where pilots and flight attendants generally begin and end their workdays.
In a press release, Frontier said up to 180 pilots and 275 flight attendants will call Phoenix home within the first year. The low-fare carrier added crew bases in Atlanta and Tampa last year.
“We are currently the third-largest airline at PHX based on number of destinations served and we anticipate continued growth as our fleet and route network further expand,” said Barry Biffle, president and CEO of Frontier Airlines. “Whenever we add a new crew base to our network, it creates more flexibility for our team members and greater opportunities for career growth.”
Frontier currently operates 14 nonstop routes from Phoenix to places like Chicago, Cleveland, Denver and Las Vegas.
