Violence broke out again in a city in northwest Sonora early Thursday. A conflict between armed suspects and security officials left three people dead and several others wounded.
Sonoran officials say police and military personnel were able to run armed assailants out of Caborca after receiving reports of shots fired.
According to police, two suspects were killed in the confrontation. Two others were arrested. Police seized five vehicles and numerous weapons.
A soldier was also killed in the shootout. Another soldier and four police officers were injured, officials say.
Violence has exploded in and around Caborca in recent years. Just last month, residents experience a night of terror, when armed gunman in more than 20 vehicles rolled through town, firing weapons, breaking into homes and kidnapping at least five people.
