Arizona Board of Regents approves motion for universities to cut ties with Russia

Since the invasion of Ukraine, organizations throughout the world have been scrambling to distance themselves from Russia. At a special meeting Monday, the Arizona Board of Regents approved a motion asking the state’s three universities to sever all ties with Russia.

Board President Lyndel Manson says the presidents of Arizona State University, University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University are all on board with the decision.

And I appreciate everybody’s, you know, obvious support for removing ourselves from any connections that we have with the Russians without damaging, perhaps, the scholarly activities," Manson said.

All three universities say they have limited involvement with Russia and are taking steps to end current relationships.
