Nearly all of Sonora now at low coronavirus risk

With cases continuing their steady decline, the coronavirus situation in neighboring Sonora is improving.

State health authorities now saythat nearly all of the state’s 72 municipalities are at low risk, with the sole exception of far southern Álamos, home to a charming colonial city with a sizable expatriate community. It’s currently at moderate risk, as was essentially the entire state just a week ago.

Weekly case counts have now fallen for six consecutive weeks, according to datatracked by analyst Luis Armando Moreno. After a month of declines, the most recent weekly death count — 31 — is the lowest logged in the state since last June.
