On Thursday, Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema met with President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
In a statement, Sinema said that she is keeping her promise to Arizonans and is carefully considering Judge Jackson’s nomination. She described their meeting as productive, adding that she heard more about Jackson’s judicial philosophy and approach to precedent.
The issue of precedent led Sinema to vote against confirming now Justice Amy Coney Barret in 2020, saying she was “concerned” about her inconsistent views on legal precedent.
Last year, Sinema voted to confirm Jackson to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
