A California superior court made a ruling late last week that could end up having an impact on one of our state’s public universities.
The San Diego court determined that Ashford University will be required to pay a fine of more than $22 million for providing students with false information to get them to enroll. California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a statement in response to the ruling that Ashford’s promises left students with “mounting debt, broken promises, and searching for a job.”
Ashford was acquired in 2020 by the University of Arizona as part of the University of Arizona Global Campus.
