Man sentenced to 21 months in prison for stealing Coronado National Forest fees

A California man was sentenced to 21 months in prison for a scheme to steal from fee collection sites in the Coronado National Forest.

Brian Lisanti of Weimar, California, pleaded guilty to breaking into fee tubes near Safford and Green Valley, Arizona and stealing $1,408 from fee envelopes on public lands, the U.S. attorney for the district of Arizona announced.

The U.S. Forest Service uses those fees for conservation, repairs and maintenance of national land.

Lisanti also admitted to a string of burglaries at fee collection sites elsewhere in Arizona, as well as Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah.
