Bill to allow Botox at the dentist heads to Gov. Ducey's desk

A bill that would allow dentists to administer Botox for cosmetic purposes as well as therapeutic, has made its way through the Arizona Legislature and now awaits a signature from Gov. Doug Ducey to make it law.

Ryan Edmonson is the Executive Director of the Arizona Board of Dental Examiners. He says that dentists are perfectly qualified to give Botox injections for more than just treatment purposes.

“There is no other profession that studies the face and the muscles and the movement than the dentist in dental school. They probably understand the nerves, all the facial structure better than any other profession because that’s all they study," Edmonson said.

Edmonson added that many dentists are already providing Botox injections and dermal fillers for facial construction problems and to repair damaged teeth.
