Sonoran leaders say they recognize the need to reinforce the state’s health services and will invest more than $6 million toward that goal.
Sonora is working to fix up 100 health centers in 46 of the state’s 72 municipalities.
That’s according to Health Secretary José Luis Alomía Zegarra, who said current state leadership is committed to strengthening health services, and will focus on four areas: infrastructure and maintenance, medical equipment, medication and other supplies, and staffing.
He called the 100 centers currently under repair the first phase and said the governor is also working to secure federal funding to make improvements in every health center across the state — acknowledging that hospitals and clinics throughout Sonora are lacking in supplies, personnel and quality facilities.
