The state’s unemployment rate is continuing to fall.
According to the Office of Economic Opportunity, unemployment in Arizona dropped to 3.6% in February, fairing a bit better than the national average. That is down 2.5% from the same time last year.
Doug Walls, the labor market information director with the Office of Economic Opportunity, says all of these gains are in spite of the struggles caused by the pandemic.
“Arizona employment has surpassed pre pandemic employment levels. So to see strong, continued strong gains in Feb. 22 is a further positive sign for Arizona unemployment overall.”
While Arizona has seen gains in all major markets, the sectors that recovered the most were education, health and business services.
