Authorities in Sonora say they have leads about a shooting along the state’s most important interstate.
After paying at one of the several informal toll booths in Yaqui communities along the interstate, two men in a moving van say they were chased by several vehicles and shot at multiple times. The incident took place about 10 miles north of Sonora’s second largest city Ciudad Obregon.
Now authorities say they have identified two suspects and are investigating the alleged shooting as attempted murder, according to a release from the state attorney's office.
In recent months, stateand federalauthorities have proposed resolutions to the longstanding and controversial extraofficial tolls.
