There's a huge warehouse in Tempe where teachers can get free art supplies

As schools have faced funding challenges in recent decades, arts programs are the first to go. But not many people actually do something about it. Sherrie Zeitlin is different.

The Arizona ceramicist and longtime arts activist runs the Art Resource Center, a nonprofit with a simple mission: collect donations of art supplies, put them in a giant warehouse and let teachers take whatever they want.

Everything is free or available for a self-determined donation. And the term "art supplies" is a really loose definition.

Once you walk into their massive warehouse, you’ll see everything from material to paper to picture frames, wood, prescription bottles, shoeboxes, buttons and more.

The Show's Lauren Gilger got a tour of the center in Tempe recently and spoke with Zeitlin to learn about her mission and inspiration.
