For 1st time since pandemic, Sonoran health officials announce zero COVID cases, deaths

Pandemic numbers out of neighboring Sonora continue to trend in positive directions.

For the first time since the start of the pandemic, Sonoran health officials announced that there were no new confirmed cases or deaths Monday. This comes as both key metrics have been trending down for a number of weeks.

State health authorities only give their pandemic reports on weekdays, and there were two Sundays this month that also showed no rise in cases and deaths, according to data tracked by  analyst Luis Armando Moreno. Just 15 cases — and no deaths — were reported Tuesday.

Sonoran Gov. Alfonso Durazo also announced the state would soon receive another 100,000 vaccine doses for those who have yet to receive theirs.
