Mesa is looking for volunteers and the city is holding a recruitment fair this Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at Mesa Arts Center Outdoor Alliance Pavilion at 1 E. Main St.
Volunteer commitments range from a single day to a whole year. Opportunities include supporting athletes with disabilities, painting fire hydrants and sorting and cleaning donated books.
During the fair, visitors can meet with staff from police, fire, parks and recreation, the library, the arts center and other departments. Mesa’s website allows people to search for volunteer opportunities based on interest, age and time.
The city said the Titan Solar Power Arizona Celebration of Freedom to be held Monday, July 4, is in need of many volunteers. More information is at azcelebrationoffreedom.org.
Mesa’s fair falls during National Volunteer Week. The national theme is “Volunteering is Empathy in Action."
