One of the GOP candidates hoping to finish Allister Adel’s term as Maricopa County’s top prosecutor will get a chance to do the job through at least the November election.
The Board of Supervisors plans to hold interviews next week.
Adel is a Republican and the Board of Supervisors has to choose her temporary replacement from the same party.
The board plans to interview Republicans who got enough signatures to qualify to run in the August primary for Maricopa County attorney.
Those candidates are Gov. Doug Ducey’s general counsel, a city prosecutor for Goodyear, and a longtime County Attorney’s Office member known for having publicly interviewed a U.S. Supreme Court nominee about sexual assault allegations.
One question already sent to each candidate is if the board erred in certifying the 2020 election results.
