Scottsdale police say British teen made threatening calls to Arizona schools

Police say a teen has been arrested for several threats made over the phone to schools and businesses in the Valley. But, the arrest was made near Manchester, England.

Scottsdale police spokesperson Aaron Bolin says it’s unclear why the teen targeted Arizona.

“There could be a tie, referenced to maybe an online friendship or relationship of some type. We’re still investigating that part of it,” said Bolin.

Bolin says two Scottsdale schools were evacuated as a result of his calls, and the suspect also made threats to a school in Goodyear and some Phoenix residents.

Scottsdale police are confident that the teen will be satisfactorily prosecuted in the United Kingdom, so extradition will not be necessary.
