Her mom died by suicide. Now, this writer is trying to turn trauma into hope

Turning trauma into hope and something useful — that's what Laura Trujillo has tried to do with her new book.

Trujillo is managing editor for life and entertainment for USA Today. In her book, "Stepping Back from the Ledge: A Daughter’s Search for Truth and Renewal," Trujillo tells the story of her mom’s suicide, and the subsequent effort to try to figure out what led her mom to that decision.

She’ll be talking about the book April 20 at Changing Hands Bookstore in Phoenix.

Prior to that, The Show spoke with her to learn what led her to put her story to paper.
