A dozen groups across Arizona will share $5.1 million in federal funding through last year’s American Rescue Plan Act.
The Gila River Health Care Corporation will get the largest grant — $1 million to increase access to COVID-19 testing and lab services for patients and employees on the Gila River reservation.
The Black Canyon Community Health Center will get the smallest grant — almost $32,000 to buy equipment and make fiber optic upgrades to expand telehealth services for rural patients in Yavapai and Maricopa counties
Other grants include nearly $900,000 to the Ajo Center for Sustainable Agriculture to open a food bank and more than $800,000 to the Bisbee Hospital Association to buy medical equipment and supplies in Bisbee and Douglas.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded the money through the Emergency Rural Health Care Grants Program.
USDA made up to $475 million available through the American Rescue Plan to help rural health care facilities, tribes and communities expand health care and nutrition assistance.
