Mexican children aged 12 and up are soon to have access to the coronavirus vaccine.
Starting this Thursday, those children will be able to register to receive their doses, said Dr. Hugo Lopez-Gatell, who has overseen Mexico’s response to the pandemic.
That comes roughly a year after health authorities in the United States approved the use of vaccines for 12- to 15-year-olds.
In his comments Tuesday, Lopez-Gatell also said that Mexico is beginning to transition to what he called the endemic phase of the coronavirus outbreak in his country. As evidence, he pointed to sustained low daily confirmed deaths, as well as high rates of vaccination among those eligible.
