Reclamation Bureau is trying to keep water in Lake Powell. But those moves are seen as stopgaps

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has announced new steps to increase the water level of Lake Powell.

The agency’s goal is to protect the ability to produce hydro-electricity at Glen Canyon Dam. One of the measures will add more water to Lake Powell from upstream, while the other will prevent some water from leaving Lake Powell.

To learn about these moves and what impact they may have, The Show spoke with John Fleck, the writer in residence at the Utton Center, a water and natural resources policy research group at the University of New Mexico School of Law.
