A variety of social service groups make up the Human Services Campus near downtown Phoenix, where people living on the street can find help.
At a public meeting on Tuesday, the executive director said more than 12,000 people came to the campus last year. Homes were found for more than 3,292 of them.
But Bill Morlan with the Madison Pioneers Coalition later said positive outcomes are not obvious to people who live and work in the neighborhood near the Campus.
“I guess in this case I just feel like we’ve been doing this for a while now and the results don’t seem to be going in the direction we would like based on the amount of energy that’s going into it,” he said.
Morlan said the number of people sleeping on the streets around the Campus has spiked since November.
