Airbnb announced that it will be placing restrictions for some holidays this summer in an effort to reduce parties.
For Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, guests will be prohibited from making one-night reservations if they don’t have a history of positive reviews.
Those guests without good reviews will also be barred from making two-night reservations at the last minute.
Guests will also have to attest they understand Airbnb prohibits parties and guests could face legal action if the rule is broken.
Local lawmakers, such as Arizona Republican John Kavangh, have pushed efforts to reduce and reign in short-term rentals through the state, though they have seen little success with legislation in recent years.
San Francisco-based Airbnb said similar measures prevented 126,000 people from renting properties over the July 4 holiday last year because they lacked positive reviews from hosts.
Airbnb has long faced criticism over large parties, some of which have turned violent, at properties listed by its hosts.
