Sonoran authorities hope new app helps in identification of human remains

Authorities in neighboring Sonora are hoping that a new phone application will help in the identification of human remains.

The new app is called ID Sonora, and will give those with missing loved ones access to information that state authorities have about unidentified bodies. That will include images of tattoos, belongings and clothing in the hopes that users may be able to positively ID the remains.

The app, created by the state Attorney’s Office, will also provide details about upcoming events where officials collect family members’ DNA, which can be a key tool in identification, as well as results from searches in which state authorities assist.
