New documentary shines light on the struggles of living with Lyme disease

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that approximately 476,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with — and treated for — Lyme disease annually. But a new documentary being screened May 12 in north Phoenix opines that the number could be much higher, thanks in part to misdiagnoses.

The film, "The Monster Inside Me," features interviews with patients who have suffered from the effects of Lyme disease and with physicians.

The director is Tony Silva. He and his wife, Frances Cecilia, are also its producers. Cecilia is also featured in the film as she shares her challenges and problems related to Lyme disease.

The Show spoke with the couple ahead of the film's screening. Cecilia to described her symptoms and when she first noticed them.
