Arizona's primary elections are coming up on Aug. 2, and Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer is reminding those registered as independent that they can participate.
“Independents can vote in the primary, but they have to take an extra step. They have to choose either Republican or Democratic primary,” said Richer.
Speaking on PBS’s “Arizona Horizon,” Richer said independents have three ways to get a partisan ballot: request one online, mail back a recent 90-day notice card, or present their voter ID on primary day and ask for a ballot in person.
Richer added that choosing a party to vote for in the primary will not change an independent’s voter registration.
