The 'Celebration of Women' book spotlights women of color in arts and culture

The “Celebration of Women” book spotlights endeavors by role models in the Phoenix metro region.

This year’s focus is Black, Indigenous and women of color in arts and culture.

Achieving My Purpose (AMP) is a Valley organization with a mission to inspire women. For the last six years, its founder has compiled a who’s who publication featuring influential luminaries.

The sixth edition of the “Celebration of Women” book will launch Sunday at the Tempe Center for the Arts as part of a ticketed gala event.

linda Groomes is the founder and CEO of AMP.

“People in the art field don’t make a lot of money but yet they are certainly worthy of the efforts they put forth and I just wanted to have the opportunity to showcase them,” she said.

Groomes said her experience as a diversity consultant both in a previous company she ran and also for the city of Scottsdale led her to create AMP.

The event begins at 2 p.m.
