AZ brought in record revenue in April. How that could complicate talks on a new state budget

Arizona brought in more money in April than in any previous month — ever.

Numbers from the Joint Legislative Budget Committee show state revenue topped $2 billion last month, which was far higher than projections. At the same time, state lawmakers are struggling to come to agreement on a new budget as the end of the fiscal year looms at the end of June.

Alan Maguire is and economist and the president of the Maguire Company, and he's spent a lot of time in state government.

The Show spoke with him to learn about the new numbers and what they may mean for the budget process.
