This couple's dog was taken by a coyote. They created body armor to save other pets

The ongoing drought here in the Southwest has had many effects on how we live our lives. The impact has also been felt by wildlife, and it’s at least one of the reasons why we’re seeing more undomesticated animals in suburban neighborhoods.

One of the most common of those animals is the coyote, and there have been reports of increasingly bold behavior by coyotes looking for food — sometimes in the form of cats and small dogs.

Several years ago, Pamela and Paul Mott created the CoyoteVest as a way to protect pets after one of their little dogs was taken away by a coyote.

The Show spoke with them and started by asking Pamela to recount what happened to their dog.
