The Arizona Department of Transportation has applied for a grant to speed up improvements on an Arizona highway.
The department has already widened significant portions of U.S. 93 between Wickenburg and Interstate 40.
The grants would allow it to speed up improvements to the highway, which is a major route between Phoenix and Las Vegas.
The agency has already dedicated nearly $500 million in widening the road in recent years.
The route is part of what ultimately would become Interstate 11.
