This recent Arizona high school grad is a national finalist in the Poetry Out Loud competition

This weekend, nine high school students from around the U.S. will compete in the national championship of the Poetry Out Loud competition. And Oscar Manuel Landa Samano will be among them.

Landa Samano just graduated from Coconino High School in Flagstaff and will be going to Columbia University in the fall; he’s interested in going into STEM and architecture.

He and the eight other finalists will not be performing live; their recitations have been recorded and will be shown June 5.

The Show spoke with Landa Samano and asked how he got started doing this.
