Autonomous vehicles are the future of the transportation industry. It will create opportunity on many fronts, but it will also cost jobs for hundreds of thousands of people.
And a new report from the Grand Canyon Institute shows Arizona will not be exempt.
Researchers found 130,000 of the state's 242,000 transportation sector jobs are at a high risk of automation. And most of those people have no college degree.
So Max Goshert says we need to look at retraining programs and new opportunities for those workers.
Goshert is the associate director of the Grand Canyon Institute and co-author of the new report. The Show spoke with him to learn about his findings.
