Joe Garagiola closed his long broadcasting career about a decade ago as a TV analyst for the Arizona Diamondbacks. But that followed many years as the top baseball announcer for NBC, and even time spent as a co-host of the “Today” show. The program paid tribute to him after he died in 2016.
Now, in a way, Joe Garagiola’s grandson Chris is following in his footsteps.
After spending the past four seasons calling minor league games, Chris is now in his first season as the road play-by-play announcer for the Diamondbacks.
The Show caught up with him and began the conversation by asking how much he’d learned about baseball and broadcasting from his grandfather.
