A portion of Eighth Street in Tempe is being renamed to “Allison Road Avenue” to celebrate the Gin Blossoms, one of the city’s most popular musical acts.
The dedication comes on the 30th anniversary of the band’s best-selling album, “New Miserable Experience,” which features the song “Allison Road.”
New Miserable Experience sold more than 5 million copies and was on U.S. rock charts for almost three years.
The name change will take effect on Oct. 14. The city says the designation will not change mailing addresses on Eighth Street.
