New confirmed COVID-19 cases continue their rise in neighboring Sonora. Last week’s COVID-19 case count of 131 was a near tripling of the previous weekly figure.
And this week Sonoran health authorities reported that they more than doubled to 295 cases, along with one new death and hospitalization.
That comes as cases nationally have also been on the rise. But it also comes as registration is set to open this week for children ages 5 to 11 to get their coronavirus vaccines.
Mexico has signed a contract with Pfizer for about 8 million doses, and is in talks with the Cuban government to acquire doses of the Abdala vaccine.
