St. Mary's sends food and drinks to help with Pipeline Fire relief effort

In response to the Pipeline Fire, St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix sent out 25,000 to 30,000 pounds of food and drinks to Flagstaff to help with the fire relief effort.

St. Mary’s spokesman Jerry Brown said having food that’s easy to access is important for many evacuees with nowhere to go.

“With the rising cost of hotels, people that were put out because of evacuations and didn’t want to go to shelters weren’t able to either afford or get hotel space and we were told a lot of people were living out of their cars,” Brown said.

Brown said that water and sports drinks are especially important for evacuees because of summer temperatures being in the hundreds.
