Arizona's monsoon officially began June 15, and Flagstaff may get its first storm of the season this weekend.
Flagstaff meteorologist Justin Johnrow with the National Weather Service said a few areas in northern Arizona may see half an inch or more of rain over the weekend.
“We’ve already got some showers and thunderstorms developing from the White Mountains up to St. Johns right now, and that looks like the most favorable area through the day, today, that does push westward tomorrow on Saturday," Johnrow said.
Johnrow said a red flag warning has been issued for the northwestern part of Arizona and that it may continue throughout the weekend.
Ever changing weather will characterize the coming week. Windy, showers, thunderstorms, fire weather, dry, lighter winds, monsoon moisture and more! Oh the many facets of transition season, an annual northern Arizona tradition. #azwx pic.twitter.com/FBbtUiII7U
