A survey finds more than 15% of Arizonans have medical debt in collections

100 million Americans report having health care debt because of medical or dental bills.

That is among the findings of a new survey from the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Kaiser Health News.

In Arizona, more than 15% of residents report having medical debt in collections, and the median amount Arizonans owe is $919. Of our neighboring states, only Utah’s amount is higher.

To discuss these results and what they mean, The Show spoke with Noam Levey, senior correspondent with Kaiser Health News.
