Jan. 6 committee testimony: Arizona's Andy Biggs sought a pardon

U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs denies helping to plan the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Still the Arizona Republican’s name has come up at back-to-back hearings held by the House Select Committee investigating the deadly riot.

On Thursday, Biggs was identified as having sought a pardon from former President Trump.

The latest Jan. 6 hearing focused on Trump pressuring the Justice Department to support his false claims of election fraud.

Near the end, the House Select Committee aired testimony by an aide to Trump’s chief of staff, who said Biggs wanted a presidential pardon.

Committee member Adam Kinzinger ran most of the hearing.

“And President Trump’s congressional friends. Some of them are angling for pardons. They knew that every bit of what they did was a lie and it was wrong,” said Kinzinger.

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers testified on Tuesday that Biggs called the morning of Jan. 6 and asked his help to swing the election to Trump.

Biggs denied seeking a pardon, posting on Twitter that the witness who said he did is mistaken.
