Report from Reveal News finds hundreds of migrant children have considered or attempted suicide

As U.S. immigration policy has seen shifts from the Trump administration to the Biden administration, concerns have remained over how migrant children in custody are being treated — and how they’re doing physically and mentally.

A recent report by Reveal found more than 500 of those kids had contemplated or attempted suicide, with 141 occurring when they were in the Office of Refugee Resettlement custody in the U.S.

Journalist Aura Bogado wrote the piece for Reveal; The Show spoke with her to learn about her findings.

If you or a loved one is having suicidal thoughts, call Crisis Response Network at 602-222-9444 for help.
